“Lithuania is set to deliver urgently needed short-range air defense systems to Ukraine, further bolstering the ‘air defense coalition’ led by Germany, the US, and France. Lithuanian Defense Minister Laurinas Kaschyunas stated, ‘We will also provide additional military equipment, weapons, and systems that are essential for daily operations on the battlefield. This is an investment in our own security.’

The aid package will include 14 M113 armored personnel carriers, short-range air defense systems along with their missiles, electronic warfare equipment, SUVs with spare parts, tractor trucks, loader systems, small arms and ammunition, and various spare parts.

Earlier in 2024, in response to Ukraine’s requests, Lithuania supplied artillery ammunition, M577 and M113 armored vehicles, anti-drone systems, Swedish ‘Carl Gustaf’ anti-tank grenade launchers, RISE-1 remote detonation systems, components for L-39ZA Albatros training and combat training aircraft, and generators.

Since the onset of the full-scale war, Lithuania has provided Ukraine with military aid valued at $641 million.

Additionally, it was reported this week that drones from five Lithuanian manufacturers have been successfully tested in Ukraine, with potential contracts forthcoming.

Furthermore, Lithuania has decided to establish permanent fortifications at two sites near its border with Russia’s Kaliningrad region.”
