In December, Leonila Guz from Kherson region will represent Ukraine at the Miss World beauty pageant, which will be held in China, Channel 24 reports.

Veronika Didusenko was initially crowned the winner of Miss Ukraine on Sept. 20, but she was later disqualified, because the organization found out that she concealed the fact that she had a baby. The rules of the competition state that only women from the age of 18 to 24 years old, who are unmarried and don’t have children, are allowed to participate in the contest.

“We are not  agencies, we do not have access to all the data, so we get the passport, identification code, social networks. There was no photo or hint that a girl has a child,” explained Victoria Chios, executive director of the Miss Ukraine organizing committee.

Didusenko called the terms of the beauty contest “discrimination,” but organizers retorted that she should participate in the “Mrs. Ukraine” contest instead.

Jury members re-voted for a new winner: Guz.

On Sept. 30, during the broadcast of the contest on television, the organizers made public the results of the new voting.

Guz is a hairdresser by profession and is only 19 years old.
