Kyiv Metro Presents Art Exhibition Dedicated to Maria Prymachenko

Anyone who had at least once seen Mariya Prymachenko’s works would instantly recognize her style. Three of her earlier works were unveiled at an exhibit in the Kyiv Metro, along with pictures of her personal life.

“We are showing not only the artistic and life experiences of Mariya Pryimachenko using archive documents, but also the photos of her with her family,” the curator of an exhibition Nataliya said.

125 drawings by children, in Prymachenko’s iconic style, were also specially included in the exhibit. The works were brought in from regions across Ukraine.

“You can see drawings from Mariupol, Rubizhne, Severodonetsk, Lviv, Chernihiv, Poltava, Kharkiv and Kyiv. I feel like we have another chance to unite once again,” Klymkovych added.

Unique documents were also presented at the exhibition. Including a letter that Anastasiya, the artist’s granddaughter, recently found. It was written in 1985 by the journalist Marharyta Dovhan, and included a drawing by her granddaughter Stefania.

“She drew this picture that was influenced by the village Bolotnya, where my grandmother lived. This drawing in the style of Mariya Prymachenko impressed me a lot,” Anastasiya Prymachenko said.

“That primitive gouache paint on the paper is so many years old. It emotionally moves me to this day,” visitor Nina said.

The exhibit was opened in the Zoloti Vorota metro station.

“I want our passengers to not just rush about their business, but sometimes to stop for a moment and learn something precious and interesting in this metropolis,” Kyiv Metro Press-Secretary Nataliya Makogon said.

The beautiful works of Maria Prymachenko can be seen through the Feb. 25. The works will then be returned to the Museum archive of literature and art of Ukraine.
