The European Union’s new 21st sanctions package against Russia will include more than 30 entities involved in drone production, as well as other companies and export items supporting Russia’s military-industrial complex.
According to UATV English, this was announced by EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas following the presentation of the 21st sanctions package by the European Commission in Brussels on June 9.
The package will target drone manufacturers and other enterprises that support Russia’s defense industry.
“We are also targeting companies that provide support to Russia’s military-industrial complex. The new listings will include more than 30 entities involved in drone production,” Kallas wrote on her X account.
According to her, new export-control measures will also be imposed on 50 companies, including entities based in China, Turkey, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, United Arab Emirates, and India.
“We will also restrict exports of additional materials and technologies, such as nickel powders, metals, and advanced alloys, in order to further undermine Russia’s production capabilities. Imports of new goods, including automotive parts, certain precious metal ores, and chemicals, will also be restricted,” Kallas added.
Earlier, Ursula von der Leyen presented the proposed 21st EU sanctions package against Russia.
Among other measures, it includes a proposal to ban former Russian combatants who fought against Ukraine from entering the European Union.
The package must now be reviewed and unanimously approved by the Council of the European Union before it can enter into force.
