Ukraine and Slovakia have made significant progress in implementing the agreements set out in the Roadmap for Joint Actions. This was announced by Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal in his opening remarks at the plenary session of the joint consultations of the two governments on 7 October.
The Prime Minister noted that some of the agreements reached during previous meetings had been fully implemented, while others were in the final stages.
“In order to implement all the projects on the agenda today, as well as to protect our European home, it is necessary to work together to ensure victory and a just peace for Ukraine,” said Denys Shmyhal.
In this regard, today’s joint meeting will discuss steps to implement the Peace Formula of the President of Ukraine as an effective tool to end Russian aggression based on respect for international law, the UN Charter, territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine.
“As members of the large European family, we highly appreciate your personal unequivocal support for Ukraine’s European integration aspirations. Slovakia’s readiness to share its experience and provide expert assistance is an effective support for Ukraine on its way to the European Union,” the Prime Minister of Ukraine said.
Denys Shmyhal called the approval by the Slovak Government of the framework programme for Slovakia’s participation in the restoration of Ukraine an example of such support. According to him, this document will not only contribute to the reconstruction of Ukraine, but will also become a powerful catalyst for expanding cooperation.
“Slovakia’s participation in Ukraine’s recovery process opens up new markets for Slovak companies, helps create jobs and increase competitiveness. Joint projects in the energy, transport and infrastructure sectors will strengthen ties between the two countries and contribute to the development of the border regions,” said the Head of Ukrainian Government.
Noting the progress in the implementation of the Roadmap for Joint Actions between Ukraine and Slovakia, Denys Shmyhal expressed hope that further cooperation would be no less effective.
“We have agreed on the need to continue a constructive dialogue between the ministries and agencies of our countries in order to promptly complete the work on the eight bilateral documents on the agenda of our cooperation,” the Prime Minister of Ukraine said.
He focused on the Agreement on cooperation in the control at joint border crossing points and the Protocol on amendments to the agreement on border crossing points. The documents are scheduled to be signed by the end of this year.
