On August 6, Donald Trump’s running mate made a dubious statement about their view on peace in Ukraine, attacking Kamala Harris at the same time.

This was reported by Voice of America.

Vance thinks Kamala Harris wouldn’t be respected enough by Vladimir Putin to negotiate an ‘acceptable peace’ for Ukraine. He didn’t elaborate on conditions of such ‘acceptability’.

“And if you want to bring peace to this region, you need a negotiator that Vladimir Putin respects. Is there anyone here? Obviously, you are a biased audience, but does anyone here think that Vladimir Putin respects Kamala Harris? She’s afraid of you. And she definitely won’t be able to sit with Vladimir Putin in one room and promote an acceptable peace,” Trump’s VP candidate suggested.

He added that Ukraine doesn’t have enough people to keep fighting against the aggressor, but didn’t back his statement with any official figures.

GOP VP candidate J.D. Vance has a record of strongly opposing Ukraine aid and stating that the war wouldn’t have started if Trump had been a president.

Previously, Kamala Harris announced that she chose Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz as her running mate.
