Iran has increased the monthly production of Shahed, — Kovalenko on Russia’s mass launches of kamikaze drones over Ukraine

Obviously, Iran was able to increase the monthly production of the Shahed kamikaze drone production line. Compared to 2022, it has increased significantly. Oleksandr Kovalenko, a military-political commentator of the “Information Resistance” group, said this today, May 30, on the air of the FREEDOM TV channel, commenting on the number and mass of the launches of these UAVs by Russia in Ukraine recently.

“It has increased so much that now Iran is not sending kamikaze drones to Russia in separate batches, but is doing it in a stream, using both Il-76TDM military transport aircraft, in particular the Air Force of the Islamic Republic, and sea routes through the Caspian Sea,” he said.

At the same time, according to the observer, Russia is trying to improve and modernize Iran’s Shahed drones. During the use of these UAVs in the war against Ukraine, their “innards” changed.

“When there was a winter period, they, for example, improved the fuel system. Not all absolutely, there were a few assemblies that were sensitive to low temperatures and were simply replaced when the batches were received. It took some time. In addition, they began to receive additional blocks. In particular, the GLONASS block (a Russian analogue of GPS). They use it to increase effective range and accuracy. So that they cannot be suppressed by GPS, blocked using GPS, they additionally use their GLONASS and several other navigation systems, which do not work optimally in our region for certain reasons,” Kovalenko said.

The columnist also commented on the information that Iran boasted of a new missile the day before. They stated that it can hit targets with an error of up to 30 meters at a distance of 2 thousand km, it can be prepared for launch in less than 15 minutes.

“Iran receives technology from Russia, we can already see that. The same Su-35, Iran became one of the operators of these fighters, this is actually also a technology transfer. I will not be at all surprised if Iran has been receiving missile technology from the Russian Federation all this time, and was able to implement it in this new missile, which is a serious threat to many countries. For the same Israel,” says Kovalenko.

He expressed doubts about the characteristics of the rocket, which are voiced by Iran, because they do not always correspond to reality.

“We see this even with kamikaze drones: the specifications for them in open sources were overestimated. And in open sources, first of all, all the information was collected from that which was transmitted by Iran, that is, they can exaggerate the characteristics. In other respects, this is a new missile, which makes it possible to assert that Iran has obtained missile technologies,” the observer clarified.

In his opinion, it is possible that Russia will receive ballistic missiles from Iran.

“Especially if she will experience an acute shortage in Iskander.” And she already feels the acute deficit in Iskander,” said Oleksandr Kovalenko.
