In the Lyman-Kupyansk direction over the past week, the Russian occupiers have not carried out assault operations. The head of the press service of the Eastern Group of Armed Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Ilya Yevlash, spoke about this on the FREEDOM TV channel.
“In the Lyman-Kupyansk direction we have not seen any assault operations at all over the past week, but this does not mean that it is quiet there. The enemy is also using artillery: he fired about 600 times in these directions over the past day. It also uses aviation very actively, for example, more actively than in the Bakhmut direction. At Bakhmut he used three times last day, and at Lyman-Kupyansky – 17 – both tactical and army aviation,” the speaker said.
Yevlash noted that the Ukrainian military is conducting a defense operation in the Lyman-Kupyansk direction. According to his information, the Russians have concentrated more than 110 thousand of their troops there, about a thousand different tanks, armored combat vehicles, artillery systems – this is a very serious grouping.
“We expect all options, we are ready for them, but this may also play such a role that they simply pull back our troops, and so that we retain certain of our forces there. Because such a number of enemy troops requires an adequate response. Among other things, we cannot exclude that they will try to use them… They use this group, including to strengthen and transfer it to other, as they think, risky directions, including to the southern direction, to the Zaporizhzhia direction, they use our troops there,” Yevlash said.
According to him, now in the Lyman-Kupyansk direction the Russian occupation army is focusing on artillery strikes. In this case, we are not talking about barrages of fire, as was previously the case, but about concentration on a specific populated area.
“For example, yesterday they fired at the Kreminna area 190 times, and also out of 17 airstrikes, 10 were in the area of this settlement. It was very hot in the area of Bilogorivka and Razdolivka: about 150 artillery strikes were carried out there, and air strikes were also carried out, including,” Yevlash said.
