In the Congo, Ukrainian helicopters evacuated wounded servicemen (PHOTOS)

Servicemen of the Ukrainian national contingent of the UN Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo took part in the aeromedical evacuation of wounded soldiers of the FARDC units (armed forces of the Congo).

This was reported by UATV with reference to the command of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

As the commander of the 18th  separate helicopter squadron, Colonel Sergyi Vaschenko, noted, in the area of the village of Chabi, a clash between FARDC servicemen and illegal armed groups took place, as a result of which two FARDC servicemen received gunshot wounds.

To provide emergency medical assistance, two Mi-8 helicopters from the aviation group based at the Beni airfield were involved.

The crews of the Ukrainian helicopters took the wounded soldiers to the UN Mission hospital, after which they returned to their location.

In total, since the beginning of the next rotation, Ukrainian helicopter pilots have performed 11 emergency medical evacuations in order to rescue wounded and seriously ill people to provide them with emergency medical care.

 

It was reported that a Ukrainian peacekeeper died from coronavirus in the Congo.
