In case of Russian aggression against Ukraine, the Verkhovna Rada is ready to convene urgently to impose martial law or a state of emergency.

This was announced on Radio Svoboda by the First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, a representative of the ruling party “Servant of the People” Oleksandr Kornienko, UA writes.

“If it is not a week of work in the districts, I think there is a potential to gather there in a couple of hours… The Verkhovna Rada can have only one plan, if there is a task to impose martial law or a state of emergency – to make appropriate votes a few hours” – Kornienko said.

According to him, in case of a non-plenary week, when deputies will work in their constituencies, they will determine a list of special measures to protect parliamentarians in order to make a decision.

“It is clear that those who are not in Ukraine will find it harder to do so… If there is active military action, then, of course, some ways will be used to protect deputies so that they can make these decisions” – Kornienko added.

To remind, partners of Ukraine assured of the help in case of attack of the Russian Federation.
