“We were mentally prepared to kill the enemy, and not wait for him to calm down and leave us alone. These 8 years have hardened us and taught us how to fight, which the Russians did not expect,” said the commander in chief.
In his opinion, Russia was comprehensively preparing for a full-scale invasion – in all areas of the activities of its armed forces. The key goal of the Russian Federation, he believes, is the destruction of Ukrainian statehood.
“The strategic goal of Russia, in my opinion, was to destroy Ukrainian statehood as such. Apparently, they were counting on the fact that they would come in organized columns, people would meet them with bread and salt, and this would be the end of Ukrainian statehood, ”said Zaluzhny.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine noted that the Russians deliberately go to kill Ukrainians, despite the fact that they suffer heavy losses at the front. Therefore, now the main task is to destroy the enemy.
“Today they deliberately come here from the Russian Federation in order to deliberately kill Ukrainians, specifically to kill. And the essence of this war lies in the fact that if we do not destroy this enemy now, then we will be destroyed. Because they came deliberately, although they are now suffering huge losses, including in the Donetsk operational direction, in the Bakhmut area, they still go to kill Ukrainians. This is their goal.
