If the United States does not provide assistance to Ukraine, it will lose the last – the third line of defense and leadership positions – diplomat

The United States of America will eventually come to the conclusion that assistance to Ukraine is assistance to the United States itself. This is the preservation of the US leadership position in the world. America’s national interests will prevail and there will be assistance to Ukraine. This opinion was expressed on the FREEDOM TV channel by diplomat and international affairs expert Ruslan Osipenko.

“If the United States fails to help Ukraine, it will lose its last, third line of defense. That’s what I call Ukraine. Because before this they left Afghanistan, now they are leaving Iraq completely, and if they leave Ukraine without help, this is a bad signal for authoritarian regimes. This means that they will actually encourage or motivate these authoritarian regimes to adopt more aggressive foreign policies. And this is not in the interests of the United States,” he said.

Therefore, according to the diplomat, everyone is closely watching the development of the situation – both the countries of the global South and Europe are awaiting the decision of the United States.

“It’s not for nothing that the Secretary General of NATO went there, and met in Congress in both chambers, and met with the speaker, and met with the Republican and Democratic parties, explaining how important and what historical role this decision to help Ukraine plays. Therefore, I am inclined to believe that help will also be voted on. Of course, it will be blocked by MAGA Republicans (Make America Great Again, “Make America Great Again,” ed.), Trumpists who would not want to lose this mechanism of pressure on Democrats. But I think that America’s national interests will still be higher than the interests of individuals,” Osipenko added.

The expert clarified that the personal ambitions of one person – Donald Trump – or the interests of America are on the scales.

“We’ll see what takes over. Or Trump’s desire to become president, to realize what he has not realized before, and he has a desire to change the establishment in general. The deep American state will be reformatted, I have such suspicions. And he moves very decisively towards his victory, seeing neither party nor national interests. Or misses these interests,” he says.

According to the diplomat, how the vote for allocating aid to Ukraine will take place will depend, in particular, on Trump’s position. Not even from the MAGA group, which occupy 15-20% of the Republican Party, but most likely from Trump himself.

“Because everyone understands that he is the locomotive that pulls the entire Republican Party into the vertical of power. If he wins, then they follow him into this power. And we see how candidates refuse in favor of Trump in the states, provide him with all kinds of help, realizing that he has a lot at stake. You can say that’s it – either he ends up in the presidency or receives prison sentences. Therefore, there is a lot at stake, and it is very difficult to say how the vote will go. But I am inclined to believe that on the external contour the situation is such that everyone will push Trump to give in to his personal interests and put America’s national interests above,” summed up Ruslan Osipenko.

Let us remind you that all 27 leaders of the European Union agreed on an additional support package for Ukraine in the amount of 50 billion euros within the EU budget. According to Osipenko, with this decision the European Union gave two signals – to Moscow and Washington. Europe is ahead, and Washington is in an awkward position if it does not, in turn, vote to support Ukraine.
