US President Donald Trump also had a phone conversation with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Before that, he spoke with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

This was reported by the press service of the Office of the President.

According to Zelenskyy, they talked about opportunities to achieve peace, the willingness to work together at the team level, and technological capabilities, including drones and other modern production. He thanked Trump for his “interest in what we can do together.”

They also discussed Zelenskyy’s conversation with U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, the preparation of a new agreement on security and economic and resource cooperation. For his part, President Trump informed Zelenskyy of the details of his conversation with Putin.

“Ukraine wants peace more than anyone else. We are defining our joint steps with America to stop Russian aggression and guarantee a reliable, lasting peace. As President Trump said, let’s get it done,” Zelenskyy said.

They agreed on further contacts and meetings.

Trump emphasized that the conversation went “very well.” “He, like President Putin, wants peace. […] It’s time to stop this senseless war that has caused massive and completely unnecessary death and destruction. May God bless the people of Russia and Ukraine!” he wrote.

The US President added that they discussed various topics related to the war, but primarily the meeting scheduled for February 14 in Munich, where Vice President J.D. Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio will appear.

The conversation lasted about an hour.

Trump announced this call after he announced a phone conversation with Putin on February 12. He claimed that he and the Russian leader had agreed to work together “very closely.”

According to the American president, they agreed that their teams would begin negotiations immediately. The US negotiating team will be headed by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, CIA Director John Ratcliffe, National Security Advisor Michael Volz, and US Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff. Trump is convinced that the talks “will be successful.”

Russia said that the conversation lasted almost an hour and a half. In particular, Putin invited the US president to Moscow. They also agreed to organize a personal meeting.
