Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba said that he was not surprised by Hungary’s position towards Russia. However, he was surprised by the frank statements of the Hungarian leadership about the war.
He told about this in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.
“I was not surprised at all. I am only surprised by the fact that they are so openly “burning” with their statements. Somehow Orbán’s last statement: stop the supply of weapons and the war will stop,” the minister said.
Kuleba emphasized that Hungary at the EU level was unable to block decisions necessary for Ukraine, only minor sanctions nuances, in particular, “saved” some Russians and businesses. According to the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, this is Hungary’s struggle with the European Commission, because “they fight for their money and sometimes in this struggle they take Ukraine hostage.”
At the same time, the minister believes that the scandalous statements of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán regarding the war in Ukraine are connected with his ideological overlap with the head of the Kremlin, Vladimir Putin.
“I don’t have any strategic concerns about this, because, after Ukraine’s victory, the Russian factor will disappear from Hungarian politics and other statements will be made,” Kuleba emphasized.
It will be recalled that earlier the head of the Hungarian Foreign Ministry said that his country will block the introduction of price restrictions on Russian gas at the EU level.
