Hungary has provided a legal loophole for Russians who wish to entry the EU, supposedly including those engaged in espionage.

That’s according to RND.

“For several days now, Russians have been able to enter the EU through Hungary without any security checks and move freely to other EU countries. This is now possible thanks to their registration as guest workers in Hungary,” the media reported.

Viktor Orbán allowed Belarus and Russia’s residents to be registered as guest workers in July. He says that Hungary needs Russian workers to construct a nuclear power plant with Russian technology.

It is only natural that a discussion about Russian and Belarusian spies and terrorists has emerged.

According to FT, Manfred Weber, leader of the European People’s Party, has already concluded a letter to Charles Michel on the matter. He suggests that EU leaders discuss relevance of Orbán’s dubious decision at a summit in October.

The letter claims the EU leaders must think abor ” adopting the most stringent measures to immediately protect the integrity of the Schengen area, limiting the security risk that has already arisen and prevent member states from taking similar initiatives in the future”.
