It seems like Hungary is determined to oppose the EU’s stance on everything as it now prevents the bloc from presenting a unified position on rather questionable elections in Venezuela.

This was reported by POLITICO.

This time, Hungary made it impossible for the EU to issue a joint statement on presidential election in Venezuela that resulted in the 3rd term for Nicolas Maduro who has been in power since 2013 and is now accused of usurping power.

High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell issued a statement of his own, calling on Venezuela’s authorities to provide transparency to their citizens.

According to it, the presidential elections were “marred by numerous flaws and irregularities”.

“The European Union urges the CNE to provide immediate access to the voting records of all polling stations. Until voting records are made public and are verified, the election results as already declared cannot be recognised,” also reads Borrell’s statement.

Earlier, Hungary blocked Ukraine military aid worth €6.5 billion as a response to Ukraine imposing sanctions against Russian oil company Lukoil. The European Commission, however doesn’t see any violations in Ukraine’s actions.
