The second Ada-class corvette Hetman Ivan Vyhovskyi, built for Ukraine, was launched in Istanbul.

This was reported on Facebook by Ukrainian Defence Minister Rustem Umerov.

Umerov took part in the event together with First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska.

The launching ceremony took place at the RMK Marine shipyard in Istanbul. The ceremony was also attended by the Commander of the Ukrainian Navy Oleksiy Neizhpapa, Baykar owner Haluk Bayraktar and Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatars Mustafa Dzhemilev.

According to Umerov, the corvette is equipped with state-of-the-art weaponry and “will become a significant addition to our fleet, increasing Ukraine’s defence capabilities.”

“Ukraine has already broken the dominance of the Russian fleet at sea by destroying dozens of vessels. We are actively expanding the capabilities of the Ukrainian Navy in the Black and Azov Seas,” the minister said.

Because of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, Turkey also built the Hetman Ivan Mazepa corvette. It went on sea trials on 29 May.
