Groysman Names Key Targets for “Naftogaz”

According to the Ukrainian Government’s web portal. Prime Minister Groysman is reported as saying, “We have tasks that are ahead of us and now we have to create the tools for their implementation”.

It is noted that among these tasks is continuing the expansion of natural gas production and accelerating the process of dividing “Naftogaz”. The goal is to form a fully-fledged gas market in Ukraine.

In addition, the Ukrainian government expects the supervisory board to carry out a detailed audit. They also want to see a development strategy and the company’s financial plan.

As reported in late November 2017, the Ukrainian government formed a new supervisory board, consisting of three state representatives 4 independent members.

Now that the supervisory board is independent, improvement in corporate governance and competitiveness are expected.  The goals of these changes are to raise the Naftogaz’ investment attractiveness, and to more effectively address the challenges of Ukraine’s energy independence and the demonopolization of its gas market. This would ensure that consumers are provided with the lowest market prices and are protected by reliable gas supplies.
