Government, the UN and USAID agree to create a platform and headquarters to coordinate the needs of the regions to pass the winter period

he Government has collected the needs of the regions for passing the winter period and the need for humanitarian aid, and has already submitted them to the UN system, told the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal during the Coordination meeting between the Government of Ukraine, the UN system and the US Agency for International Development (USAID).

The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister — Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories Iryna Vereshchuk, Minister of Social Policy Oksana Zholnovych, Humanitarian Coordinator of the UN system in Ukraine Denise Brown, USAID Acting Mission Director for Ukraine Susan Kutor and others.

“We have analyzed and submitted a list of needs from all our regions, which includes all needs in the field of energy, heat, and water supply. We expect that the representatives of the UN will provide an answer regarding the possibility of providing them in the near future. We also propose to hold meetings of the UN system with all the regions and particular central executive authorities in the next two weeks in order to go through the list and determine what assistance can be provided,” said Denys Shmyhal.

According to the Prime Minister, the priority directions of humanitarian aid for Ukraine are, in particular, the provision of essential goods to the most vulnerable groups of people, expansion of aid programs, assistance with housing repairs, arrangement of bomb shelters, etc.

The participants of the meeting have agreed to create a platform and headquarters for the coordination of needs and hold the next meeting this month.

The Head of Government thanked the organizations of the UN system and USAID for their support to Ukraine.
