In the first half of 2025, Germany plans to provide Ukraine with large-scale military packages, including tanks, armored personnel carriers, air defense systems, and other weapons.
According to n-tv, Germany is preparing:
22 Leopard 1 tanks;
25 Marder infantry fighting vehicles;
another IRIS-T SLM/SLS anti-aircraft missile system;
16 howitzers, 2 Patriot launchers;
7 Gepard anti-aircraft systems with 120 thousand rounds of ammunition.
In addition, the package includes:
3,500 Helsing attack drones;
6 Sea King helicopters;
250 thousand pieces of artillery ammunition;
additional equipment for the needs of the Armed Forces.
Political challenges:
At the same time, according to Spiegel, Chancellor Olaf Scholz has not yet approved a new large-scale military aid package proposed by the German Foreign and Defense Ministries.
At the end of December 2024, Germany has already handed over a significant aid package to Ukraine, including the IRIS-T and Patriot systems, demonstrating its key role in supporting Ukrainian defense.
Germany’s plans for new aid packages strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities, but political decisions may affect the speed of implementation of these initiatives.
