Germany has delivered a large aid package to Ukraine, including IRIS-T and Patriot systems.

On Monday, December 23, Germany updated its list of military assistance to Ukraine, adding Leopard 1 A5 tanks, IRIS-T SLM/SLS air defense systems, and Patriot launchers.

This was reported by the Federal Government of Germany.

Germany has transferred to Ukraine the IRIS-T SLM (medium-range) air defense system with missiles, as well as the IRIS-T SLS (short-range) system. The package also included two Patriot launchers.

In addition, the military aid package includes:

  • 15 Leopard 1 A5 tanks
  • Two Gepard self-propelled anti-aircraft systems
  • 30 MRAP armored vehicles with mine protection
  • PzH 2000 self-propelled howitzer
  • 12 armored vehicles with kinetic defense systems
  • Two TRML-4D radars
  • AIM-9L/I-1 Sidewinder guided missiles
  • Ammunition for Leopard 1 and Leopard 2 tanks
  • 120 GMW grenade launchers
  • 52,000 155mm shells
  • 65,000 rounds for Gepard systems
  • 30 Vector drones, 24 RQ-35 Heidrun drones, 14 Hornet XR drones
  • 5 AMPS helicopter self-defense systems
  • 45 diving scooters
  • 12 Zetros trucks and eight Zetros fuel tankers

The package also includes small arms:

  • 200 MG4 machine guns
  • 420 MK 556 rifles
  • 80 HLR 338 sniper rifles
  • 100 CR 308 rifles

Additionally, Germany has sent generators, tourniquets, tents, 120mm mortar shells, demining equipment, and ammunition for small arms.

At the beginning of September, Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced that Germany had ordered 17 IRIS-T air defense systems for Ukraine. This includes eight medium-range (SLM) systems and nine short-range (SLS) systems.

During his visit to Kyiv in early December, Scholz confirmed that the sixth IRIS-T SLM system would arrive in Ukraine by the end of the year.

On December 20, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that Ukraine had received the sixth IRIS-T SLM air defense system from Germany.
