France is offering Ukraine intelligence data after Washington announced it was suspending intelligence sharing with Kyiv in an attempt to increase pressure on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

French Defense Minister Sébastien Lecornu made this statement on Thursday, as reported by Reuters.

“We have intelligence resources that we are using to assist the Ukrainians,” Lecornu said in an interview with France Inter radio.

“This was suspended as of yesterday,” he added, referring to the U.S. decision to halt intelligence sharing with Ukraine.

“I believe it is more complicated for our British friends, who are part of the intelligence community with the United States,” Lecornu noted.

Lecornu also stated that France’s nuclear arsenal, developed at the start of the Cold War to remain independent of both Washington and Moscow, remains sufficient.

On Wednesday, French President Emmanuel Macron said that France is open to discussions about extending the protection provided by its nuclear arsenal to European partners in light of the threat from Russia.

His remarks came ahead of a European leaders’ summit expected to focus on Ukraine and defense issues.
