The Polish economy is suffering from Russian aggression against Ukraine, which is primarily due to the element of uncertainty. However, its importance should not be exaggerated. Polish historian, international expert Lukasz Adamski said this on the FREEDOM TV channel.
“Of course, everyone suffers to some extent from the fact that energy prices have risen a lot. But we see that the price of oil is now falling. As for gas, here Poland, unlike many other countries of the European Union, has, in principle, become completely independent of Russian gas this year. Therefore, this factor also does not particularly affect, ”the expert notes.
At the same time, according to him, the Polish economy has benefited in some way.
“Many Ukrainians have arrived, and they also work here, pay taxes. Poland is such a logistics hub through which aid to Ukraine passes. Here, for the Polish economy, the war brought not only losses, but also profits. Profits associated with the war factor,” Adamsky comments.
However, he believes that the losses and profits associated with the war do not have a large-scale impact on the Polish economy.
According to Adamsky, Poland is interested in participating in the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine. However, the expert fears that it may be overtaken by other states that did not provide such great assistance to Ukraine as Poland did during the war, but are much more experienced in implementing various projects and have greater political weight.
“Absolutely all the people I talk to in Poland: politicians, businessmen, are very interested in Poland taking an active role in the process of restoring the Ukrainian economy. But not only Poland is interested in investing in Ukraine after the war, so that Polish firms can work in Ukraine … I am afraid that then those countries that helped less, but which have a good quality of administration and influence opportunities, including and on Ukrainian politicians, on Ukrainian business, they will benefit,” Lukasz Adamski shared his fears.
