Firebombing of the Hungarian Union Office in Uzhhorod is Recognized as a Terrorist Act

The firebombing of the office of the Transcarpathian Hungarian Cultural Association (THCA) in Uzhhorod, was qualified as a terrorist attack, Ukrinform reported.

Oleksandr Biloborodko, one of the suspects, is in custody without the possibility of bail.

“Today in Uzhhorod’s city district court, a measure was chosen against the first of two defendants suspected of firebombing the office of the THCA, on Feb. 27. Thus, the court held that the resident of Kropyvnytskyi, Oleksandr Biloborodko, will be placed in custody, for a term of 2 months, without the possibility of bail. The case of another suspect, Kondratenko, has already begun in the same court,” Nadiia Heirush, the press secretary of the court, said.

On Feb. 27, an explosive device was installed on the window sill of the building and detonated. Three Ukrainians were arrested on suspicion of firebombing. One of them from Cherkasy, and the other ​​two from Kropyvnytskyi.

On Feb. 4, a bottle with an incendiary mixture, was thrown into the building of the Transcarpathian Hungarian Cultural Association. According to the Governor of the Transcarpathian region, Hennadiy Moskal, two members of the Polish right-wing radical organization, Phalanga, are responsible. Its members participated in combat operations in Donbas, on the side of the militants.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine condemned the arson of the office of the THCA.
