The visit of Keith Kellogg, who was appointed special envoy for the Russian-Ukrainian war by US President-elect Donald Trump, is scheduled for after Trump’s inauguration on January 20, 2025.

Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha said that the parties are now agreeing on the timing of the visit and working on its content. According to him, this meeting is of critical importance for Ukraine. “We are confident that it will take place in due time,” the minister said.

Earlier, Reuters reported that Kellogg had postponed his trips to Kyiv and other European capitals until the transfer of power in the United States is completed. The reasons for the postponement were not specified.

During his election campaign, Donald Trump promised to end the war between Russia and Ukraine “in one day,” but his exact plan is still unknown. According to The Wall Street Journal, the options being considered by Trump’s team include proposals to freeze the conflict, temporarily suspend Ukraine’s membership in NATO for 20 years, and create a demilitarized zone along the front line.

Instead, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy insists on defending the country’s territorial integrity and continues to consider joining NATO a key guarantee of the country’s security. In September, he met with Trump and presented him with Ukraine’s victory plan.

Ukraine expects that after the inauguration, the Trump administration will begin an active dialogue with Kyiv, and Kellogg’s visit will be an important step in this direction.
