The European Federation of Journalists will call on their governments to pressure the Russian Federation for the release Ukrainian journalist Roman Sushchenko and Crimean journalist Mykola Semena.

Serhiy Tomilenko, the head of the National Union of Ukrainian Journalists, said that “next week, the European Federation of Journalists will officially call upon its members to support the Ukrainian Federation of Journalists and appeal to European governments to pressurize Russia for the release of Sushchenko from prison and cancel his conviction.”

According to him, several leaders of European journalists organizations throughout the continent are offering their total and full support to help free the convicts.

It should be noted that more than 150 journalists, representatives of various media organizations, politicians, human rights activists, and others took part in the conference “Free European Media” in Gdansk.

Oleg Sentsov, another Ukrainian journalist being unjustifiably detained in Russia, was able to contact his family for the first time since his imprisonment.
