Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in Brussels, where a special summit of the European Council will be held today, March 6.
The head of the Ukrainian state was met by the President of the European Council António Costa and the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen.
When approaching the media after his arrival, the Ukrainian leader noted that he was glad to see how Europe was starting to move towards its rearmament.
Zelenskyy emphasized that Europe sent a “strong signal to Ukrainians” and now they “do not feel abandoned.”
The President of the European Council António Costa emphasized that the security of Europe is inseparable from the security of the Ukrainian state.
In turn, the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen noted that Europe should protect itself and strive for long-term peace.
“Ukraine is part of the European family. We must protect it and Europe, which are now under threat,” the President of the European Commission said.

Europe will rearm faster than Russia, — Donald Tusk.
The Polish Prime Minister also arrived at the EU summit in Brussels.
He noted that although the United States has now become a more demanding partner, the alliance between America and Europe must remain an absolute priority.
Europe must rearm and spend more on defense. But there is not much time for this, says Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen.
“I don’t think we have much time. So (we need, — ed.) to rearm Europe: spend, spend, spend, spend on defense and deterrence,” she said before a special meeting of the European Council.
The Danish Prime Minister also commented on French President Emmanuel Macron’s proposal on nuclear deterrence. Frederiksen said that Europe should not discuss everything now, “so all the good ideas that are on the table should be part of our discussion.”
Recall that the European Union will consider providing Ukraine with a large-scale financial aid package at an emergency EU summit on March 6.
