The European Commission has come up with a plan to deal with Donald Trump if he wins U.S. presidential election in November.

This was reported by FT.

The two-step EU-US trade plan envisages sending negotiators to the Trump team to discuss the possibility of preserving the same tarrifs on US goods and increasing EU export as soon as soon as he is elected.

“Should talks over improving trade fail and Trump applies higher tariffs, the European Commission’s trade department is drawing up lists of imports it could hit with duties of 50 per cent or more,” the article claims.

The EU leaders are determined to preserve valuable partnership with the United States, but are also ready to defend their interests.

“We will look for deals, but we are ready to defend ourselves if it comes to it. We won’t be guided by fear,” EU top official told FT.

Earlier, the G7 leaders agreed to loan $50 billion to Ukraine using Russian frozen assets to secure military assistance for Ukraine in case Trump decides to cut off support for Ukraine.
