The European Union approved the extension of the package of sanctions against Belarus by the authorities of Great Britain, the USA and Canada.

This is noted in the EU foreign policy service Twitter account, UA reports.

“The EU is acting together with the US, Canada and Great Britain, supporting the people of Belarus. We will continue to put pressure on the Lukashenko’s regime until all political prisoners are released, a meaningful dialogue begins in Belarus and free and independent elections are held” – the statement goes.

August 9 marked the anniversary of the 2020 presidential election in Belarus. US President Joe Biden has signed a decree imposing large-scale sanctions against the Lukashenko regime.
