The challenges faced by the European Union and by those who support it are many; From Brexit, the migration crisis, the rise of populism, Russian misbehavior, and the American late lack of international leadership, the European Union ought to come together to better protect itself and its citizens.

The two leaders of France and Germany – and admittedly of Europe – appeared as they understand that significant changes are necessary to preserve the European project.

Speaking at a press conference following their meeting in Paris on March 16, both leaders confirmed that even though they do not see eye to eye on everything, they intend to cooperate to define a clear roadmap for the continent, all in order to bear the first fruits of their efforts in June of this year.

The Eurozone, a common defence policy, trade with Donald Trump’s America, or even research, the topics of discussion are plenty. The ambitions of the two leaders are high, but both nations have managed to achieve a rather great deal in the past thanks to their effective partnership.
