While the Western alliance is stronger together with the United States, Europe has enough determination and resources to become a true security provider for Ukraine.
EU Ambassador to Ukraine Katarína Mathernová stated this in an interview with Ukrinform.
She recalled the position of Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, who emphasized that the Western alliance is stronger when acting together.
“But I think we have enough elements, will and tools to actually be the security provider. I think it would be more effective and easier with the United States than without. But I think we just will have to see and adjust to the situation as it evolves,” Mathernová stressed.
As reported previously, a disagreement arose between Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelenskyy during their meeting in Washington, leading the Ukrainian President to leave the White House prematurely.
Following the events in Washington, Italian Prime Minister Meloni called for an urgent summit between the U.S., European states, and allies to discuss joint efforts in addressing key challenges, particularly the war between Russia and Ukraine.
