On August 12, the European Commission has transferred around €4.2 billion to Ukraine under the first pillar of the Ukraine Facility.
This was announced on the official website.
“Following the payment request submitted by Ukraine, the Council endorsed the Commission’s assessment that Ukraine has satisfactorily fulfilled the nine reform indicators linked to the first regular quarterly payment,” the statement reads.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal has already thanked the EU Commission and its head Ursula von der Leyen.
“This assistance is crucial to maintain our macro-financial stability, advance recovery and drive key reforms,” the Ukrainian official wrote on X.
With previous payments, EU’s total funding under the Facility now amounts to €12 billion.
