ENTSO-E plans to double the volume of Ukrainian electricity exports

Minister of Energy of Ukraine German Galushchenko held a meeting with the ENTSO-E (European association for the cooperation of transmission system operators) Board Chair Joachim Vanzetta and the Secretary-General of the Association Sonya Twohig as part of a working trip to Brussels.

The parties discussed ways to strengthen European energy security in view of the gas blackmail of the EU by the aggressor country and the russian war against Ukraine.

German Galushchenko emphasized that in view of yesterday’s decision of the EU to reduce the consumption of russian gas by 15%, Ukraine can help Europe compensate for the corresponding volumes by increasing the export of Ukrainian electricity. This is supported by all, without exception, EU member states, which was repeatedly emphasized during the ministerial meeting yesterday.

The leadership of ENTSO-E noted that exports are planned to increase in the near future. Already this week, its volume will double, and further growth will continue.

ENTSO-E emphasizes that the export volumes increase should occur gradually, taking into account the technical protocols for ensuring the stability of the energy system.

The Ukrainian side, in turn, is convinced that in the face of the war, which the russian federation is waging not only against Ukraine, but also against the whole of Europe, decisions should be made as soon as possible. After all, the Ukrainian energy system has already proven its stability.
