The Central Election Commission of Georgia has begun publishing preliminary voting results. With available data from nearly 70% of polling stations, the ruling party is leading with 53%.

This was reported by “News-Georgia.”

The Central Election Commission started releasing preliminary election results, which currently cover approximately 70% of polling stations (2,176 out of 3,111 at the time of this news report). These are the polling stations where voting was conducted using electronic devices.

According to these results, the ruling party “Georgian Dream” is leading with 53%.

The opposition bloc “Coalition for Change” has 11.9% of the votes, the “Unity” bloc with Saakashvili’s party has 9.79%, the “Strong Georgia” bloc has around 9%, and the party of former Prime Minister Gakharia, “Gakharia – For Georgia,” has 8.26%. Other parties do not exceed the 5% threshold.

Final results will be considered after a physical recount of the ballots.

Voter turnout is preliminarily around 59%.

This year’s parliamentary elections were held entirely under a proportional system for the first time.

It should be noted that after the polling stations closed in Georgia, results of two exit polls commissioned by opposition television channels and one commissioned by the ruling “Imedi” were published.

The first two forecast victory for the united opposition with over 50% or 48%. Meanwhile, the exit poll by the Gorbi center for “Imedi” claims that over 56% of voters supported “Georgian Dream.”

Leaders of “Georgian Dream” have already declared their victory.

Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili stated after the exit poll results were published that the opposition has won.

Zourabichvili wrote that the united opposition is “winning with 52% despite attempts to falsify the elections and without votes from the diaspora.”

“Georgia has demonstrated democracy, European values, and maturity… I am proud and confident in our European future,” noted the president.

It should be remembered that after the polling stations closed in Georgia, the results of two exit polls commissioned by opposition television channels and one commissioned by the ruling “Imedi” were published.
