The Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the Munich Security Conference, held on February 14-15, reaffirmed that security, freedom, and prosperity cannot be taken for granted.

Dutch Foreign Minister Kaspar Veldkamp wrote on X (Twitter) that Russia’s aggressive war against Ukraine, the rise of new powers, and technological changes pose serious challenges for the Netherlands and the EU.

He emphasized the need for closer cooperation to protect Dutch and European interests, stating that this requires “commitment and dedication from all of us.”

Meanwhile, on February 15, U.S. Presidential Envoy for Ukraine and Russia Keith Kellogg stated that the American position on peace talks includes Ukraine but does not foresee European representatives at the table.

The next day, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot confirmed that President Emmanuel Macron would host an emergency summit of European leaders on February 17 to discuss the situation in Ukraine and European security.
