DOM TV channel opened its first bureau in the city of Kramatorsk, Donetsk region. The regional center of the controlled part of Donbas has become a new home for the TV channel’s team of journalists, with those, who relocated from the occupied areas of the region among them.
Ukrainian state broadcasting for separate areas of Donetsk and Luhansk regions is based on the values of ethical, balanced journalism, which leads to constant presence of the editorial staff of the DOM TV channel in the region, which suffers from the consequences of armed aggression. And the problems of its residents require constant attention from journalists.
“Journalism is not isolated from society, and it is clear that the professional environment of Donetsk region is also experiencing a series of crises. Opening of the bureau is one of the answers to these challenges, because our task is to unite and strengthen the journalistic community not only in Kramatorsk but in the region as a whole “, – the chief editor of the DOM TV channel Oleksiy Matsuka noted.
The office is located in a convenient place – opposite the building of the Kramatorsk City Council, at 48, Akademichna Street. The premises of the regional office of the DOM TV channel are equipped with everything necessary to guarantee local journalists safe conditions for the creation of relevant, up-to-date and high-quality content.
Events, trainings, workshops for various local content producers, round tables, studios, etc. are also planned at the bureau’s facilities together with state and public organizations.
The office also has a lawyer’s office, which will provide free assistance to the IDPs and those who have problems related to the issue of the temporarily occupied territories.
“We are trying to use every opportunity to help people who have been in a very difficult situation for many years. They write to the editorial office of the TV channel, and we have drawn attention to the fact that most of the requests concern the need for legal advice. There are legal consultations, but this is not enough. We try to be as useful as possible for the audience – both for viewers and for local media,” – said Yulia Ostrovska, Director General of the State Enterprise “IBMPU”.
Due to quarantine restrictions, there was no big opening of the bureau. But already today the speakers of different programs of the DOM TV channel were able to get acquainted with its work. Chairman of the Donetsk Regional State Administration Pavlo Kyrylenko became the first guest of the studio.
The office in Kramatorsk is a start for further network of regional representations of the DOM TV channel in Donbas.
“It is only the first step. Our final goal in this region is Donetsk, where we plan to open the main editorial office after de-occupation. Very soon there will be similar bureaus in other cities,” – Oleksiy Matsuka, chief editor of the channel, emphasized.
