“Dive-2021”: the military exercises of divers started in the Black Sea (PHOTOS)

The active phase of the Dive-2021 multinational mine action exercise has begun in the Black Sea, with the participation of the Naval Forces of Ukraine, Georgia, Bulgaria, Azerbaijan, the United States and the Romanian Naval Forces.

The trainings are being worked out as part of tactical exercises using the latest diving equipment of the participating countries, special equipment of the search and rescue vessel of the Ukrainian Navy “Oleksandr Okhrimenko” and the hydrographic complex of the ship of the Romanian naval forces “Alexandru Cataneanu”.

In accordance with the plan of the exercise, the military are practicing paired diving descents to a depth of more than 30 meters as part of international groups with an exit according to a previously agreed decompression regime, as well as elements of medical assistance using a pressure chamber in case of oxygen illness. In addition, foreign colleagues acquainted the participants with the work of modern oceanographic, meteorological, topographic and hydrographic equipment on the Romanian ship.

“The main efforts are focused on synchronizing the actions of the divers of a common multinational tactical group and getting acquainted with the specifics of diving in different countries with its subsequent implementation during execution of the common tasks. In the future, the tasks will become more complicated. The participants will have to practice underwater demining operations, underwater blasting and technical works, mine action, etc.” – said Oleksiy Nesterov, Chief of the Search and Rescue Service of the Ukrainian Navy, Head of the Ukrainian team.
