President of the Czech Republic Petr Pavel arrived in the Ukrainian capital on Friday morning after visiting Odesa.
This was reported by the Office of the President of the Czech Republic, Ukrinform reports citing Radio Prague International.
In Kyiv, Pavel is expected to meet with his counterpart Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and probably with Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.
On Thursday, the Czech President visited Odesa and held talks with Oleksii Kuleba, Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction and Minister of Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine, as well as with representatives of Odesa, Kherson and Mykolaiv. They discussed the situation on the battlefield, the possible recovery of the country under Russian attack after the war, and the contribution that the Czech Republic could make.
On social media platform X, Pavel then said that he had discussed with the leadership of Odesa, Mykolaiv and Kherson regions further direct support for the regions that are directly on the front line.
“I have come to Odesa, which has been resisting Russian aggression since the beginning of the war. From the Czech Republic, aid is coming here in the form of combat vehicles, drones, protective vests, mobile jammers that protect residents from drone attacks, as well as medical equipment such as ventilators and hospital beds,” the Czech president wrote.
Pavel visited Ukraine shortly after his inauguration in 2023, along with former Slovak President Zuzana Čaputová. He held talks with Zelenskyy and visited the city of Dnipro. Zelenskyy paid an official visit to Prague in July 2023.
