Ukraine and France continue a productive dialogue on Ukraine’s recovery without waiting for the end of the war, in particular on deepening business-to-business cooperation, risk insurance, assistance in humanitarian demining and export support. The Government of Ukraine is also counting on further support from international partners for the country’s European integration course.
This was stated by First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yuliia Svyrydenko during a meeting with the French Minister of Economy, Finance and Industrial and Digital Sovereignty Bruno Le Maire in Paris on 9 November.
For his part, Minister Bruno Le Maire stressed that the future of Europe was being fought for in Ukraine, and no matter how the geopolitical situation in the world changed, France was ready to stand by Ukraine to the end.
Yuliia Svyrydenko, in turn, noted that cooperation between Ukraine and France had not lost its intensity and, despite Russian aggression, had a very practical dimension for both countries.
“Today we are discussing possible instruments for the reconstruction of Ukraine, including war risk insurance, to enable French investors to come to Ukraine and participate in reconstruction projects,” Svyrydenko said.
Thus, the French state insurance company Bpifrance Assurance Export has already announced that it will insure French companies ready to invest in Ukraine without waiting for the end of the war. There are already the first French companies ready to receive these guarantees to expand their business in Ukraine. The parties also discussed the possibility of insuring Ukrainian investors who will set up joint ventures with French companies.
“French companies are ready to localise their facilities in Ukraine and manufacture their equipment in our plants. I am convinced that this interest will only grow as we work together,” said the First Deputy Prime Minister.
In particular, French companies are interested in investing in Ukraine’s strategically important sectors, including defence, agricultural production and processing, renewable energy, gas production and storage, green metallurgy, environmentally friendly transport, healthcare and pharmaceuticals.
