Continued defense cooperation and preparation of a new aid package: Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a phone call with Emmanuel Macron

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a phone conversation with President of France Emmanuel Macron.

The Head of State congratulated Emmanuel Macron on the appointment of the new Prime Minister Michel Barnier and thanked him for France’s unwavering support for Ukraine.

The President of France expressed his condolences to the Ukrainian people over the Russian strikes on Lviv, Poltava, and other cities and communities.

On the eve of the meeting of the Contact Group in the Ramstein format, the parties discussed further defense cooperation and the preparation of a new military aid package from France.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy outlined Ukraine’s primary needs, particularly in air defense, electronic warfare systems, armored vehicles, and artillery. The Head of State emphasized the necessity of obtaining permission and means from partner countries to strike at the bases of carriers of guided aerial bombs.

The leaders agreed to facilitate cooperation between Ukrainian and French companies in the joint production of weapons.

The Presidents also coordinated future contacts, particularly regarding the implementation of the bilateral security agreement and the Ukraine Security Compact mechanism, which involves all countries that have signed security agreements with Ukraine.
