The Construction of the Nord Stream 2 Pipeline Heavy on Ukrainian President’s Mind

The Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko appeared worried of the North Stream-2 pipeline construction, which he sees as yet another tool for Russia to destabilize Ukraine.

The Ukrainian head of state fears the economic consequences of the pipeline, since Russia will no longer need to transit through Ukraine to deliver its gas to Europe – which will amount to a $2 billion loss of income for Kyiv.

Furthermore, Ukraine has a hard time believing in the honesty of certain European nations who claim to support Ukraine, but which at the same time support the construction of the pipeline.
