Chinese leader Xi Jinping held a phone conversation with Donald Trump following his U.S. presidential election victory, according to two sources who informed CNN.
During the call, Xi reportedly congratulated Trump on his win, although neither side has officially confirmed the conversation.
Earlier, China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that they respect the choice of the American people.
Russian outlet “Verstka” also reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin informally congratulated Trump on his election victory, though no public announcement has been made.
CNN previously reported that Trump, who values flattery and loyalty, is paying close attention to which world leaders are reaching out to him.
