China still does not demonstrate a clear understanding of the nature of the Russian Federation’s war against Ukraine, — Podolyak

To participate in the negotiation process, China needs to take a clear position and recognize who is the aggressor in Russia’s war against Ukraine. Mykhailo Podolyak, adviser to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine (OPU), stated this today, May 30, on the air of FREEDOM TV channel.

“Ukraine’s strength lies in the stable position occupied by President Volodymyr Zelenskyi. This is one of the important components of the subjectivity that Ukraine demonstrates on foreign markets. China still does not demonstrate a clear deep understanding of the nature of the Russian Federation’s war against Ukraine. Ukraine has a formula for peace, it does not need any other abstract initiatives of third countries that are not part of the conflict,” he said.

Podolyak singled out three main points that Zelensky adheres to, voicing Ukraine’s position in the foreign policy arena.

“The president consistently talks about three things. The first is the peace formula. Second: the key point for starting any process of recording the results of the war is the departure of Russian troops to the border in 1991. The rest is not discussed. The third component is if you don’t want to participate in the war, then don’t prevent the war from following its historical path,” Podolyak listed.

Any offers of third countries to Ukraine must be within the framework of international law.

“When we talk about the subjectivity of one or another state in the framework of a potential negotiation process, it is desirable for this state to absolutely accurately assess the scope of the war, who is the aggressor in this war, who violated international law. International law is a key tool for the existence of the world today in the form in which it exists,” stated the adviser to the head of the OPU.
