China has taken a clearer position in support of Russia, – political scientist

The second Chinese “peace plan” is a plan to freeze the war. To an even greater extent than the first, he puts forward demands for de-escalation specifically to Kyiv, and not to Moscow, which, allegedly discussing his points, began an operation in the Kharkiv region of Ukraine. Natalya Plaksienko-Butyrskaya, an expert on East Asian issues and a Master of Foreign Policy, said this on the FREEDOM TV channel.

“Why is there absolutely no point in the joint statement voiced by Putin and Xi that says that there is no need to expand the combat zone, there is no need to seize more territories, there is no need to use nuclear weapons? Why are these de-escalation points addressed to Ukraine, and not to Putin, who, at the moment when these points are discussed with him, begins a new operation in the Kharkiv region?” — the guest on air asks rhetorical questions.

In her opinion, this and Beijing’s refusal to participate in the Global Peace Summit emphasizes China’s clear position in supporting the Russian Federation.

“China’s position has now become clearer than even it tried to maintain. By the fact that China does not participate in the Peace Summit, it clearly shows that it supports Russia, that it assists Russia,” Plaksienko-Butyrskaya emphasized.

She noted that, in fact, Beijing supports Moscow throughout the entire period of the Russian Federation’s full-scale aggression against Ukraine, using Russia as an instrument of confrontation with the United States and, in general, weakening the West. China is not satisfied with the current world order. With the advent of Xi Jinping, the country changed its vision of its place in the world. At the same time, speaking about multipolarity, Beijing, according to the expert, is trying to build a bipolar world.

“He is building at least a bipolar world, in which Russia works as a useful element, weakening the West and helping China. Even the platform that he is building to offer his so-called “peace initiatives” to resolve the Russian-Ukrainian war is, first of all, a more strategic position. He sees a chance to unite around him the countries of the global South, who now support him as a country offering their “peace initiatives”, and in general – as a country that will influence the peacemaking process, the new security architecture that will be built after the war. This platform will also help China strengthen its personal position in its confrontation with the United States of America. No matter who comes to power, Biden or Trump, they will not change their policies, and China is preparing to play the long game. Unfortunately, at the expense of the interests of Ukraine, due to the fact that he not only does not support Ukraine, but to a certain extent helps our enemy,” noted the master of foreign policy.

Let us recall that earlier Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine excludes any alternative “peace summits,” in particular the one proposed by China.
