First Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko and Advisor to the Head of the Presidential Office Vladyslav Vlasiuk held a briefing for representatives of the diplomatic corps of the countries of the Global South on Ukraine’s sanctions priorities.
The First Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Economy of Ukraine briefed the representatives of the diplomatic corps on the concrete steps Ukraine is taking to implement its sanctions policy against the aggressor country. Yulia Svyrydenko emphasized the importance of active bilateral relations with the countries of the Global South.
“Ukraine has imposed sanctions on Russians responsible for aggression, war crimes and propaganda. Approximately 6,000 people have already been submitted to sanctions. This is a way to restore justice and a real resource for rebuilding the Ukrainian infrastructure destroyed by the Russians. To put an end to the war, we need to stop the war machine, which means we need sanctions,” she said.
The First Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Economy of Ukraine emphasized that Ukraine is actively cooperating with partners in the sanctions coalition, which includes 40 countries.
Yulia Svyrydenko noted that Ukraine is making significant efforts to ensure the Black Sea Grain Initiative is in place, so sanctions against Russia do not threaten global food security. She also called on the countries of the Global South to analyze Ukraine’s priorities for the effective implementation of sanctions policy.
Advisor to the Head of the Presidential Office Vladyslav Vlasiuk emphasized the importance of depriving Russia of tools that help it circumvent sanctions, including through third countries. He emphasized that the main purpose of sanctions is to stop Russia’s aggression, and that purchases of Russian goods help the aggressor finance the military-industrial complex.
“We urge you to continue to show respect for the sanctions imposed by the countries of the sanctions coalition to stop Russia’s aggression, and to consider taking additional measures to ensure that doing business with Russia does not create additional sanctions risks,” Vladyslav Vlasiuk said.
He also informed about Ukraine’s efforts to put Russia on the FATF blacklist.
The parties noted the importance of coordinating efforts to implement sanctions policy and continuing further dialogue in this area. The participants of the meeting examined the remains of missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles used by Russia to shell Kyiv.

The briefing was joined via a video call by Ambassador of the Republic of the Philippines Leah M. Basinang-Ruiz, Ambassador of the Argentine Republic Elena Leticia Mikusinski, Ambassador of the Republic of Chile Aylin Estrella Joo Liem, Ambassador of the Republic of Senegal Papa Diop, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Mohammed Sulaiman Almussher Aljebreen, Ambassador of the State of Kuwait Rashid Hammad Al-Adwani, Charge d’Affaires a.i. of the Republic of Guatemala Michele Paolo Giordano Mazariegos, Counselor of the Embassy of the Republic of Angola Manuel de Silva, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates Mahra Ali Alshaya, Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq Taan Hussein Abbas Hussein, Ambassador of Malaysia to Poland, who is temporarily in charge of Ukraine affairs, Dato’ Chitra Devi Ramiah.
