The Director of the US National Intelligence Dan Coats claimed that Russia is preparing a series of cyber-attacks against Ukraine.

Washington is also expecting attempts from Moscow to attack critical American infrastructures in the near future.

All this is part of the yearly awaited report from the head of the US National Intelligence – “Worldwide Threat Assessment of the US Intelligence Community” – provided to the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence. The Senate hearing on cybersecurity occurred on February 13 reports Radio Svoboda.

“We expect Russia to carry out bolder and more disruptive cyber-attacks” throughout the year, and it is likely that they will use Ukraine as “a testing ground to disrupt energy grids, hack-and-leak influence operations, and other digital attacks.”

According to D. Coats, the Russian government will continue its attempts to target the US and its allies’ infrastructures; as well as continue its efforts to obtain information about the US foreign policy and NATO.

Just one week ago, Russian state-sponsored hackers breached the firewalls of large companies that co-operated with the US Department of Defense.
