The United States is committed to Israel’s security and supports the Jewish people’s right to defend themselves against Hamas terrorists, Hezbollah, the Houthis, and Iran.
This was emphasized by U.S. President Joe Biden in a statement marking the anniversary of the large-scale terrorist attack against Israel.
Biden noted that he became the first American president to visit Israel during wartime.
“At that time, I clearly told the people of Israel: you are not alone. A year later, Vice President Harris and I remain fully committed to the security of the Jewish people, the security of Israel, and its right to exist,” he stressed.
He underscored that the U.S. “supports Israel’s right to defend itself against attacks from Hezbollah, Hamas, the Houthis, and Iran.” Just last week, U.S. military forces actively assisted in Israel’s successful defense against an Iranian missile attack.
Additionally, Biden raised the issue of the hostages taken by Hamas, including 12 U.S. citizens.
“We will never give up until we bring all the hostages home,” emphasized the head of the White House.
The U.S. president also condemned the “horrific surge of anti-Semitism” in America and around the world.
He stressed that the U.S. will not stop working towards achieving a ceasefire agreement in Gaza, which will also bring the hostages home and allow for increased humanitarian aid to the people.
“We continue to believe that a diplomatic solution in the Israel-Lebanon border region is the only way to restore lasting peace, allowing residents on both sides to safely return to their homes,” Biden concluded.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, the release of hostages, and an end to the conflict in the region on the anniversary of the attack.
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer described the hatred directed at Jews and Muslims following the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7 as “abhorrent.”
French President Emmanuel Macron also issued a statement regarding the anniversary of the Hamas attack, noting that “the pain remains as sharp as ever.”
