Berlinale Film Festival 2020 to Host Canada-Ukraine Co-Production Meetings

The first Canada-Ukraine CoProduction Meetings will be held at the European Film Market in Berlin on February 21.

The event was announced by the Ukrainian Motion Picture Association and the Embassy of Canada in Ukraine. The Canada-Ukraine CoProduction Meetings will be held with the support of the Ukrainian State Film Agency, the agency’s press service reports.

“The two-hour event will take place as part of the European Film Market at the 2020 Berlinale International Film Festival (Berlin, Germany) on February 21. The exact time and venue will be announced to the registered participants later,” the statement reads.

As noted, the aim of the event is to promote the development of Canada-Ukraine co-production, to familiarize Ukrainian producers with the possibilities of cooperation with Canada, to introduce Canadian producers to the advantages and features of partnership with Ukraine, to make acquaintances among producers from Canada and Ukraine.

The audiovisual co-production agreement between the governments of Ukraine and Canada was signed on July 2, 2019. The agreement is expected to be ratified in the coming months and will open up new opportunities for partnership.
