Former U.S. President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle Obama have given their backing for a 2024 presidential campaign of Vice President Kamala Harris, and it’s more than a written statement.

The couple made a dramaturgic statement on this on X.

“Earlier this week, Michelle and I called our friend Kamala Harris. We told her we think she’ll make a fantastic President of the United States, and that she has our full support. At this critical moment for our country, we’re going to do everything we can to make sure she wins in November,” Barack Obama promised.

Kamala Harris, Barack Obama and Michelle Obama all published a video of Harris receiving a phone call from Obama. Michelle Obama noted that this campaign was going to be ‘historic’.

Obama was the last standing among ‘bid’ Democrats to endorse Kamala Harris, nominated by Joe Biden after he had given up his campaign. Some even criticized Obama specifically for not immediately providing support for Harris as a black man.

“He believed it was important for the party to have a legitimate process where delegates select our new nominee, and he thinks VP Harris has been off to an impressive start,” POLITICO explains ex-president’s outlook on the situation, citing a ‘person familiar woth Obama’s thinking’.
