Austria will continue to support Ukraine and seek a just and lasting peace in the interest of Ukraine and all of Europe.

This was stated by Austrian Federal Minister for European and International Affairs Beate Meinl-Reisinger, who spoke at a joint briefing in Kyiv with her Ukrainian counterpart Andrii Sybiha, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“As before, Austria’s political, economic and humanitarian support for Ukraine will continue. From the first day of the brutal Russian aggression against Ukraine, Austria has stood in solidarity with Ukraine, and we fully support your independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity,” she assured.

Meinl-Reisinger expressed her belief that Ukraine’s struggle is also a struggle for the security of all Europeans, and Europe plays an important role in any peace agreement.

The Austrian Foreign Minister also assured that her country will continue to seek a just and lasting peace in the interest of Ukraine and all of Europe, and supported the principles of nothing on Ukraine without Ukraine and on the future of Europe without Europe.

“Peace is more than a short-term silence of weapons. Without sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity, there can be no peace in the long term. Peace means respecting the internationally recognized borders of neighboring states,” Meinl-Reisinger emphasized.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, the newly-appointed Austrian Foreign Minister Beate Meinl-Reisinger arrived on a visit to Ukraine on Friday, March 14.
